The best healthy maple donuts

Maybe it’s the effect of my summer in Canada or it could be that I’m just feeling nostalgic, Canadian thanksgiving maybe? Whatever it is, maple syrup is always, always a great idea, especially when it involves maple donuts. These maple donuts are oven-baked, soft, healthy, dairy-free, refined sugar-free and made with wholemeal flour are possibly the best thing you will bake this year. It will take you less than 10 minutes to put the ingredients together, and exactly 12 minutes to bake. A perfect quick treat to bake on a Saturday (or Sunday evening, depending on where you are in the world) for a quick breakfast or snack throughout the week. Check it out!

Healthy maple donuts

What you need for 12 donuts: Dry ingredients - 2.5 cups of wholewheat flour - 1 tsp baking soda - 1/4 tsp salt - 1/2 tsp cinnamon - 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg Wet ingredients - 1/2 cup maple syrup - 1 tsp vanilla extract - 1 egg - 1/4 cup melted coconut oil - 1 and 1/4 cup almond milk (or any dairy-free milk) Topping: - Manuka honey (and nothing else!) Steps: 1- Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees C and lightly brush your donut tray with coconut oil 2- In a medium bowl, mix the dry ingredients together 3- In a separate bowl, mix the wet ingredients together 4- Gradually add in the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring well 5- Pour the batter in the donut tray either using a teaspoon carefully to avoid a mess or by filling up a pastry bag with the batter and piping it into the donut crevices 6- Bake in the oven for 12 minutes at 180 degrees 7- Let the donuts cool down in the tray for 5 minutes before taking them out of the tray 8- You can enjoy them as is or top up with Manuka honey just before serving (believe me, it is the best, don’t even try any other honey or topping!)
